WP4 : SimTraces integrated model

SimTraces integrated model (Working Package 4)

SimTraces : biovailability + uptake + partitioning models

The biovailability, uptake and partitioning models have been coupled together and to the Stics crop model to simulate the transfer of a trace element from soil to the harvested plant parts : (seeds, aboveground biomass)

The three sub-models of phytoavailability (WP1), of uptake (WP2) and of partitioning (WP3) have been connected to simulate the soil to crop transfer of a trace element (here, Cd).

The whole integrated model is the SimTraces model

SimTraces requires the growth of the different plant parts and was therefore also coupled to the crop model Stics, which do so depending on the environmental conditions including the agricultural practices.

Below is an example of  Stics+SimTraces simulation

plant_growth_stics

Growth of the different plant parts of sunflower as simulated by the Stics crop model for a given set of climatic and environmental conditions

amount_Cd

Quantities of Cd in the different plant parts of sunflower as simulated by SimTraces

Cd_concentrations

Concentrations of Cd in the different parts of sunflower as simulated by SimTraces based on the biomass dynamics simulated by the Stics crop model
